Hi All,
I like to make youtube content, and moving to a Iphone XS Max and a Macbook Pro 2018.
Reason: Time management, i need to get daily content up.
I tried DSLRS etc etc, i just not fond of it, too much work to get the awesome shots, too much weight and hassle to carry around at outdoors and indoor events, so long story short.
I will be picking up a new Macbook Pro 2018. My footage is down sampled from 4K to 1080p because my target audience (mostly mobile users)
I choose the model without the LED bar, because i dont like those.
But, the laptop must handle these files during editing before i have the final file ready to rendered out. I am not sure if the Macbook pro 2018 can do that properly.
So i debated about getting a I7 CPU upgrade instead, but honestly i dont know if its really going to be needed. My goal is to get my content created in a 1 hour editing window, and then have it rendered at 1080p.
So it will be my main video editing rig that is compact and easy to travel with, as i often like to check all my footage on the spot and doing that from the iphone its a bit hard to determine the shots being ok or not vs a 13 inch screen (airplay transfer data)
At home it will be connected to a external monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse and a 3TB Time capsule for backups.
Do you guys have experience between the i5 and i7 model in terms of rendering videos and is the rendering time required a bit shorter with the i7 or is there a crazy difference.
Lastly, any concerns with heat generation of the CPU in such a small setup? i had Dell laptops in the past nearly burning out because they got so darn hot.
Thanks for your reply in advance.

- 2.3GHz dual-core 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
- Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
- Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640
- 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory (Final Cut Pro, photo editing software)
- 256GB SSD storage <-- Most data will be offloaded to a 3TB Time capsule and cloudstorage
- 13 inc Retina display <- compacter setup for regular travel trips more desirable over 15 inch.
- Two Thunderbolt 3 ports <- a bit off a concern, but since i will do data transfers via Airplay with the iphone and via WIFI with the GoPro 7 black and its application, i believe i should be fine. At home use the keyboard and mouse will be wireless/bluetooth. I did not really want to fork out the extra money to get the one with the LED BAR and 4 ports.
