Hi,

Got a Macbook Pro 2018 i7 2.6 ghz with the 3. butterfly keyboard. The keyboard makes a high frequencie pitch sound when pushed down. The sound is easier to make happen when pushing on the bottom part of each key.

Video here:

After examning 2 different macbook pro 2018 editions at the Apple Store I found out that 1 had the exact same sound on all keys, when pushing down. The second one had the same sound at just some of the keys.

Is this how it is supposed to be? Not sure I see the point of taking it back when I found the 1 at the store had the same sound on all the keys, and the other one had it at some of the keys, but not on all the keys.

Anyone?

Just take it back and get it exchanged. A popping sound is not normal.

Did you see the video? Its not popping maybe what you think. the video explains it.
You said popping, I used your words. No I didn't watch the video, because if the keyboard is making odd noises that's not normal. Take it back and get it exchanged.

I watched the video, and like I said, that's not normal. Take it back.

Even if it is "normal" will you really be content with that sound as you type? You paid a lot of money for a premium laptop, if the keyboard is "off" in how it works, there really shouldn't be any question about what to do. At least to me there shouldn't be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If it is normal, then yes. it will be fine for me. Thats what I am trying to figure out.

Like maflynn suggested, take it back. You might find the replacement to be the same. Pretty happy with my 2018 keyboard. Hope you get it sorted out.

thank you for getting back to me. I have already tried 2 different macbook pro 2018, and it is the same. Before I take it back for a third time it would be great to see if other people dont have the same`?

Could you please try pushing on the keys at the very bottom of each key`?

Mine makes no such sound, inconsistent sounds on different keys are indicative a something being different, and different is not good when it comes to individual keys, especially given Apple's track record with keyboards.

When I press the key it is not usually at the bottom but just tested mine and it seems the same no matter where I press it. I guess each person "perceives" thinks differently.

I'm going to check all my car doors make the same sound when I close them...and the windows in my house. Maybe the pages in my books sound different when I turn them. I may be gone some time. :(

I didn't mean to be flippant but I couldn't really see a problem from the video. I have been a bit extreme about product satisfaction myself in the past. If you think the MBP isn't right then replace it. Good luck either way.

The only one of my keys that is remotely "clacky" is the right shift key. All other keys have a very dull thump, and really are not audible if I keep my fingernails off of the keys or don't press down hard as I type.

Thank you. It seems the sound is normal? 1 person here has the same sound (?), and tried 2 different macs that has the same.
If you're content with it, then live with it. If it were me, I'd return it. Everyone is different and as long as your happy with your purchase, that's all that matters.

You don't like the sound of your keyboard but you're too lazy/reluctant to take it back to Apple so you want people here to tell you it's normal.

I'm in no position to judge whether the sound is acceptable to you. If you don't feel happy about it, then return it.

I think he is asking if it is normal to identify whether his keyboard is defective or not. He may or may not like the sound, but if it is defective it would warrant an instant return (even if he enjoyed the sound so much he danced to it).

Thank you for making this clear. Not sure why everybody is mad. Just wondering if this is normal. Thats all. Forget about me. Its no point returning it if its normal.

So far i have figuerd out 4 macbook pro 2018 that have the sound. And a bunch off mad children in this thread saying its faulty, withouth saying if they have tested a macbook pro 2018 or not.
