Trying to upgrade from macOS 11.6 to macOS 12.1. System Preferences downloaded the Install macOS Monterey app but upon launch, I get the following error: "This copy of the Install macOS Monterey application is damaged, and can't be used to install macOS."

Tried deleting and re-downloading the installer but still receive this error as soon as the app is launched... Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my Late 2015 iMac. Install kept chocking with some error message. In the end I erased the HD and re-installed the OS, and brought data back in via a TimeMachine back-up. To be fair I’ve had problems with this old iMac, and a local Apple Authorized repair place wanted to replace the motherboard for $700.00. But I suspect the update software was the real culprit.

I don't know if this is similar but I'm trying to get it installed and I get this message every time. I'm using the app store. Is there an answer? I've tried downloading four times and getting really fed up with it
