Macbook Pro Airport failure after setting to sleep

Hi guys,

My macbook pro 15" 2.4 i5. is having problems with its airport.
every time i put it to sleep for more then a few seconds, the airport turns off, and i am unable to turn it back on with out restarting it..

any suggestions? please..

i have now deleted and re-installed leopard.. and im still having problems..
\sometimes the card will turn on but it wont connect to the wifi, it says it is having a timeout error.

PLEASE HELP - to me it looks like a hardware fault.. but i live in the country now and its very hard to get to an apple store.
