Hey guys i'm just curious about something.

i'm looking at purchasing a 30" ACD for my MacBook Pro and wondering about screen resolution.

If I opt for the 30" will it only run at 1680 x 1050 (my MBP's max resolution)?

If so then i'm guessing it would be a waste of money as it wouldn't offer more screen real estate or am I off the mark here

thanks in advance

If you mirror the displays it will run at the same resolution as the mbp, if you extend the desktop then it will run at its full resolution.

The C2D MBPs can certainly run the 30" at it's full resolution. That's if you run it non-mirrored, or with the MBP closed.

I'm pretty sure the older CD MBPs can do the same.
