Apple has not, repeat has not rated the battery life of the MacBook Pro; the 3-to-3.5-hour battery life tests are user tests only. The Apple battery page has lots of information that will help.

and that right there should be the biggest red flag that the battery life in the Macbook Pro is pretty poor. Apple not willing to tell you what they are because they know they are pretty crappy.

Have you guys considered:

  • Disabling bluetooth.
  • Disabling wireless (if not using)
  • Removing disc from the drive.
  • Using trackpad instead of a USB mouse.

On my ThinkPad it sucks the life out of the battery if I leave bluetooth or wireless on; I turn it off when I don't use it. Also, the USB mouse will suck up some juice, and so will spinning up and down a CD that you're not using.

i'm currently doing a lot of file transferring, and even with the hdd spinning like made, i've been going the last two hours strong, and the battery bars been holding at 46 to one hour left on the meter. with normal light usage its around 4 hours (web surfing, adium, itunes). thats with airport, bluetooth turned off. trackpad, no mouse

According to my MacBook Pro I am getting 22 hour battery life :)

after a few minutes it went back to saying 2:09 :(

(not photoshopped)

mine's even worse....

I never get over 1 hour 30 minutes on my macbook pro (about 1 year 4 months old) and I have the brighness on 4 bars, quit all programs i'm not using, and have the sleep hardisk option on... anyone now how to fix this crap? (i tried calibrating, and it made the battery better the next time I used it, but after that it was just as bad... :( )

I could easily get 4 hours on my 1st generation MacBook Pro.

Do you by chance surf websites with flash?

Flash is the killer of everything that has a battery attached to it.

Oh, and one more thing; What exactly has this to do with the Mac Pro and Power Mac? ;)

Just Youtube. It shouldn't be that bad though... I mean 1.30 that's worse than what dell computers get
