Just got it back this afternoon at 12pm and here is the list of things they serviced/replaced:
1) 630-7757 SVC, PCBA, 2.0Ghz, 256Vram(m1-Rp) MBP 15"
2) 612-0020 Assy, Inverter, Ncc, Mbpro 15"
3) 616-0288 Bat, Lith, 60Whr, Plymr, ony, Nph2
4) Reseat: cable/connector
I'm not sure if I see any right fan assembly replacement....and the latch wasn't replaced it and hardly works. I'm a bit disappointed. I even put extra emphasis on fan making a ton of noise.

I started getting the same problem about a week ago, but on the upper right hand fan aparently. It's so annoying. im just about to move house aswell, argh stress!!
Does anyone know if having the beta vista installed with the efi partition deleted voids any kind of warranty, so i know whether to just get rid of it all before i take it in for a service?
Also if it does need to be serviced, will this cost me? I didnt get apple care and i got the macbook around a month after they released them.
Siigh. I thought the problems were over, id decided the whine with battery, and heat were liveable with, but this is just stupid.

Do what I just did and completely format your machine b4 u send it in. (backup ur stuff b4, of course lol).
When I first brought my Mbp into the AppleStore to have the fan noise checked out, I told him it was from CS Source in Bootcamp and the guy told me Apple doesn't fully support Bootcamp and shouldn't know about it. Thus my reformat.

None of my disks are with me at the moment, guna do the check tuesday, theres obviously a problem.
Does anyone rekon if i tell them about the whine etc. and that its a problem for me theyll just give me a new machine🙄 ? ... no.. maybe not. I thnk they should tho, this machines been rpetty lame, even the main Enter key doesnt work properly, you have to really push down hard on it for it to work. ugh.

Well, I too have had these fan issues in the past. I installed Vista on my macbook, and the fan (right hand side) became hyperactive, shortly thereafter becoming noisy like baseball cards in bicycle spokes. I deleted vista and reformatted my drive to try to reverse the situation- to no avail.
When I finally got frustrated and disassembled the computer, I found no apparent source to the issue, the fan just made noise. Anyways, a day later my harddrive died, and a week after having that replaced the battery, which wasnt a part of the recall group, bit it too.
I did notice though that if you tap the case with one finger above the fan that makes the noise, the noise temporarily stops. Im currently waiting for apple to ship MBP 3 to me.

Been reinstalling programs and setting preferences to my liking at the moment. One thing i've noticed is that the latest iStatPro will no longer show temps. It worked before i sent it in. I wonder wtf is going on.
I did some preliminary testing and the mbp is now MUCH cooler as others have said.
My temp at idle used to be 65*C. Now it's always hovering arund 55-57*C.
As for 100% cpu usage, I used to see the fans spin up to full speed starting at 82*C. Now, the fans <i>begin</i> to spin up at 82*C and not even close to the speed it used to spin at. And it cools it down to a constant 78-79*C.
As those results, as you would have guessed translatd into a much cooler touchable notebook. The heat excess heat that used to be generated in the upper left corner is not nearly gone. It's actually VERY touchable than it used to be. I think this is the way the mbp should be, i'm quite happy w/ the temp results. Not to mention the whine is gone 🙂

Ran counter-strike source for about an hr, the fan noise isn't as loud or buzzy as it used to be. But it still suffers from the same sort of noise when you're out of 3D applications. It's not so much the running-baseball-cards-through-a-wheel sort of noise, but more of the consant "chchchcchchch."
It's very noticable when your ears are about 3-4" inches from the speaker. I'm gonna use it for a little more and if the problem persists, I'm either going to change the fan myself or send it in again, ugh.
But it must of been the new logic board that's created better heat ventilation and control that's keeping the noise down rather than eliminating it.

Did you go in and say something like "it gets stupidly hot, makes a weird whining sound, and the fan is making a racket", or just tell them about the heat or whine etc. as a separate complaint. I just don't want a wasted trip, i have all those issue's. If they're apparently willing to fix them even though I've owned it a few months for free i can really see it being worthwhile.

I think the best attitude to call AppleCare w/ is a patient and understanding one but yet firm and assertive.
Like you've read, I have more than one issue tha required looking at and I basically told them I had the Apple Store look at a few mechanical issues which they felt needed repairs, thus the call. Told the rep how much I loved mbp but had a few concerns. At which point some reps will ask if you have AppleCare and ramble on to sell you one while others might just be straight w/ you and ask what the problems were.
The rep I had made me toy w/ the idea of AppleCare which I politely declined by telling them I will highly consider it towards the end of my warranty. But otherwise I told them I had a really obvious static interferrence tpye whine coming from the left speaker and whenever I used any 3D apps, I would be greeted w/ what sounds like a dying/struggling fan from the right speaker. I didnt give them an epic story how many people on MacNN had theirs at what temp blahblah. Keep it simple and straightforward. I knew once the logic board was replaced that the heat wold go away, so I didn't even mention the heat. Then at which point they should send you a box to you.
I wasn't aggressive or demanding in such a way that made the reps feel bad. Just call being happy, slip in what you need to say 🙂
Unfortunately when you send in anything, they only investigate it, doesn't warrant any repairs 100% unless the problems ultimately requires repairs. I had three/four issues w/ my mbp, but only the fan and whine were the main problems which the fan didn't even get fixed.
And sadly I WILL be sending it back in again soon because while the fan noise is not loud enough for the whole class to hear, the people around me can. It's sad to know i have to send it in more than once when I explicitly said I needed that fixed.
Note: When needed to describe the issues you're having, make sure to be VERY percise if the problem you have isn't a standard one.

Yet another update: It's been more than a week since I got back my mbp and the fan has been near silent after hrs of intensive gaming and use so far.

Update for me:
Got it sent in a few months ago. they fixed the keyboard. But not the whine, and they basically told me i was making the fan noise up in my head.
Few months on now and the fan is constantly grinding along. Sent another email asking them to look at it once more, heres hoping!
