I connected a external monitor. How do i set it so when i shut my screen on my macbook pro the computer doesent go to sleep so i can use the external monitor. thanks

All you have to do is to wake the Mac after you've closed its lid by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the external keyboard. That's what I'm typing on right now.

listen to Blue Velvet, i'm doing the same thing. just make sure you have an external mouse and keyboard to wake your computer from sleep.
