I just noticed this, I plug it in and roughly every 2 minutes it repeats the charging sound. I tried all the USB-C Ports!?
This doesn't happen when it is turned on.

Thank You

I have the same issue with my M1 MacBook Air. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does I simply unplug it and then plug it back in a bit later. I've never been able to pinpoint what causes the problem. Hopefully others who have experienced this can shed some light.

I've seen that with third party chargers. I think they sometimes work but don't provide the "something" that the MacBook is looking for.

I'm presuming the third-party charger has something to do with the issue the OP is having. In my case, however, I'm using the power brick and cable that came with my MacBook M1 Air.

Could be the USB-C connector end of cable has expanded and making poor contact. This has happened to me a few times and was able to save a USB-C to HDMI dongle. Hold the connector horizontally with one hand and try pinching the top and bottom of connector with thumb and index finger. Otherwise, you can get a replacement cable from Ikea for $6.99.

This happens to me sometimes when charging my 14 MPB with the included MagSafe charger. I generally have to disconnect and reconnect several times to get it to stop. Both the end of the charger and the port seem clean with no obstructions.

no because it doesn't do this with my friend 14"/M1

Have you tried resetting anything to fix this?
I'm thinking mostly about the SMC because that controls power management and it is possible that a reset of the SMC might be the solution.

I got a new USB C cable and the repeating charging sound when off is fixed.

I had similar problem with a 3rd party cable as well. It's weird ... I've had bad cables more in the last few years than all the years I've ever used computers. Last few years I've had several bad cables. One that melted on my lap... one that did what the post here says... and one that just died and refused to charge.

Now, sadly, I'm relying on super expensive Apple cables for the most part.

I've noticed that most of my 3rd party USB C cables top out at around 60w.

I got a like new 100w Anker cable and the laptop doesn't do the repeating charging sound now.
