Macbook Pro CPU, Battery and Temp issue.

My uncle has a 15" top spec Macbook Pro, the CPU has over 50% usage but Activity Monitor shows nothing is using a large amount, the battery also says it is only going to get around 2 hours when it should be around 7 and to top it off the machine is running way hotter than it normally would.

I've done a PRAM reset which worked and everything went back to normal but on the next restart it all went wrong again. I've done a SMC reset also but it didn't do a thing.

Any ideas?

the machine is running way hotter than it normally would.

iStat Pro will help you monitor temps to find out exactly what they are.

Has he selected to SHOW ALL PROCESSES in Activity Monitor and then sorted by CPU usage?

FYI, I did search I just couldn't find anything on this specific issue.

Also that did work, I didn't have all processes showing just "my" processes.
