I have had this mbp a little over a year, i don't baby it but its pretty mint. After having my trackpad replaced by apple recently i decided to just look at the body and i notice a hair like crack at the hinge area. The area is not isolated and it doesn't move so i don't understand what could have happened. I have never dropped or banged it. I have attached a pic below. Is this by any chance covered by applecare? And could it have been caused by heat?

My guess is no it could not be caused by heat. I would think that the spot in which this crack is, was designed to take heat. Now if you left it in the car for 8 hours in middle of summer or something, then all bets are off. No idea if that is covered by Apple Care. It doesn't appear to be from abuse. It really looks to me like it could be considered a defect. No harm in trying for a repair under Apple Care.

Apple replaced it within 30 mins. Thanks!
