So I have a non-unibody MacBook Pro and the display is not working. It powers on and I hear all the right noises, so I think the graphics card is burned out. So how do I connect an external monitor to the computer to see if it really is the the graphics card if I can't set up the monitor. I tried just connecting while both the monitor and the laptop is on and nothing. I tried having the montior on and then turning on my laptop and still nothing. Do I have to hold down a button or something.

    Thanks guys

bad news mate... your nvidia chip has died, and this chip takes care of the internal and external monitor so you won't see any image again until Apple changes your logic board.

But-- don't freak out yet, they will do i for free--- I'm on my third logic board here :D
