Great!! i told ya! how lovely is that feeling when it just starts up :D:D:D
lets hope it stays that way, and dont forget to monitor your temps! i would really appreciate if you could post your idle and full load temps here, it be great for reference. install smcfancontrol, and download coolbook, with it, even the free version, you can test your cpu by running full cpu load.

IT WORKED!!

I baked the logic board for 7 minutes on ±185 C, and it came out beautifully!
I reapplied some arctic silver 5 thermal paste, and my mbp works again!

I hope I can keep using this machine for a looong time!

If anyone has got any questions, feel free to ask away!

Congrats. Did you have to tape off any connectors with foil or kapton tape to shield them from the heat? Particularly plastic bits?

Also, for monitoring of your CPU temp I recommend iStat Menus. It monitors a bunch of stuff and displays it very neatly in the top menu bar. Version 2 is free. Version 3 costs a bit.

Cool. Never gets old hearing that--and you've kept the record going (at least as far as I know). I still have not heard of a failure yet baking the logic board.

I just posted at your latest blog, Russ. I forgot to mention, mine is the 2.33 MHz early 2007 edition. Not sure where to find the exact model number, but you get the idea. Second iteration of the dual core CPU but with improved cooling vents out the back and dim hard-on-the-eyes screen. I wonder what years are affected by this defect in design or if it's a planned obsolescence thing. That would make sense because mine went tits up one month past the extended warranty.

I used SMC fan control, and the temperatures are fine I guess.
Idle: ±35
Load: ±55

It seems a lot cooler than it was.

There are two things though, that are wrong.

The fans always stay on on 100% (6000 rpm)
The right speaker does not work.

Does anyone know how to fix those problems? :)
I've tried to reset the smc by holding the power button for 5 seconds without a power source...

maybe you damaged the speaker cable.. what numbers are smcfancontrol giving you? under prefs you can manually set the fan speed. whats it at now? if it says 2000rpm but are running at full speed there might be something wrong, othervise just set the minumum speed to what you want. temps look good, but if ure fans at 6000rpm i doesnt mean much... hope you fix it!
