Macbook Pro Early 2011- Battery randomly shuts down when unplugged from mains

Dear kind macrumour forumers,

I'm having an issue with my battery currently, and I'm wondering if you can offer any help. I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch. When i unplug the laptop from the mains, its runs till around 50 or 60% and then randomly powers down.

My battery condition using the application watts says-fair although it has had over 1000 cycles (1176) to be precise.

I have attempted the SMC reset but to no avail.

Perhaps I need to replace the battery, but I am extremely skint at the moment, so am wondering if any of you have any ingenious fixes?

That's pretty common behavior for a failing battery.
