I have a new MacBook Pro 13" and when I plug it into my monitor the colours are really dark, to the point that dark images look different, the contrast is high and the text is really sharp.
I tried this solution - https://www.mathewinkson.com/2013/0...ix-the-picture-quality-of-an-external-monitor and it helped a lot with the text, before that it was very blurry and difficult to focus, but it didn't help with the colours at all.
Some notes -

Some notes -
- I'm connecting through HDMI with an adapter. I've tried two adapters Link1 Link2
- I have a 2011 MacBook Pro (non-retina) and the display is fine
- when I plug it into this monitor. For this I'm using the same HDMI cable
- but with a mini display port adapter.
- I run Windows on this monitor and there are no issues with the display
- I have my monitor brightness setting maxed out, so I can't adjust it any higher.
