Hi. I'm looking to buy some speakers for my MacBook Pro so I could listen to music and watch movies. Would anybody recommend any external speakers? Probably under $200 if possible. Thanks.

    Here's a few:

    Audioengine A2 - http://audioengineusa.com/Store/Audioengine-2

    Swan D1080 IV - http://www.theaudioinsider.com/prod...d=200&osCsid=77d6d3c3e368f6e6be27cc1fcd474966

    Swan M10 - http://www.theaudioinsider.com/prod...id=89&osCsid=77d6d3c3e368f6e6be27cc1fcd474966

Those are just a few powered desktop speaker systems. It really depends on if you want a 2.0 setup, or a 2.1 setup. If 2.0, I'd go with A2, they're small, but they aren't bad and look aesthetically nice. They have decent bass (if that matters) that should satiate any bass needs (if any).

If you are planning on a 2.1 setup, I'd recommend going bookshelf speakers with an amp and sub. Much better sounding for the money.

    Hope that helps!

If you want portability and ease of use check this out:

I use one on my iMac, works great to compliment the internal speakers. And it's usb powered.

Well, there are a few setups you can go with. For powered speakers, here are a few recommendations:

    HiVi Swan M10 - http://www.theaudioinsider.com/prod...id=89&osCsid=77d6d3c3e368f6e6be27cc1fcd474966

    HiVi Swan M50w (a little over budget) - http://www.theaudioinsider.com/prod...d=167&osCsid=77d6d3c3e368f6e6be27cc1fcd474966

    Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 - http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMe...d=1341688245&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+promedia

Now for some passive active setups. For you, I'd go with:

    Dayton Audio Sub-800 - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-627

    Dayton Audio B652 - www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-652

    Dayton Audio DTA-100a Class T-Amp - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-383

You can go with that amp or this little combo special:

    Dayton Audio T-Amp and B652 Speaker Bundle - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-650

I'd also grab a DAC if possible, just to allow for better sound. Here's what I recommend:

    HRT MusicStreamer II - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...17145&creative=399369&creativeASIN=B0038O4UFQ

    Fiio E10 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005VO7LG6

    Hope that helps!!! :D
