just had an issue again this morning , with finder hanging
started when i tried to save an excel spreadsheet , just got the ball spinning
rebooted a few times - no change

- TEXTEDIT would not open

then after leaving alone for an hour or so - its now all OK

looked in disk utility and the harddrive has verified against the status

backed up with time machine and copied a few files off onto a external harddrive - although a lot of my files are kept on icloud anyway

any idea , what maybe happening

software update is available - which i will do now

just thought I would see if anything likely to check or run on the machine

had problem last week with finder also showing ball, and could not get icloud to open , had to remove icloud and setup again

how would i do all that -
whats to fix on the SDD ????

I have a timemachine backup.

Boot into Recovery by holding down the power button. In Recovery, select Disk Utility. Select menu.. View > Show All Devices.

Select Internal - APPLE SSD - Macintosh HD volumes. Select menu.. File > Run First Aid

been running over a week, and i have had firefox closed most of the time
and been doing a lot of excel - checking the memory on utility as its left open now
just closing lid - no reboot or anything
copied various stuff to and from icloud drive - BUT did take of the lptop 500GB+ of data onto an external drive day 1
adding various notes & textedit files
running faultlessly at the moment

so will see what may happen next
