Thanks for the replies.

Cost isn't so much an issue and I definitely don't want a refurb. I want the latest technology. I make it a point to only upgrade at the most opportune time, so buying a refurb is out of the question.

Regarding the XPS 15, it seems too have the same hardware specs but cost $250 less. That said, I would gladly pay $250 more for a Mac with bootcamp vs a Dell with uhh McAfee?.

One big question I have; Is the Nvidia 750m the latest in laptop gaming right now? And if not, does the laptop with a superior graphics card have a 3200 x 1800 display?

@AdolfCaesar It's not so much the games I play now: DotA 2, SC2, SWTOR, WoW. It's the games I will want to play. I've been running into the issue of downloading games on Steam that are completely non-playable, no matter what. I expect that won't happen with any new machine I buy, but I also don't want that to happen after having my computer for a year.

If gaming is your top priority the Mac is a poor choice unless u just like the design.

I only play Blizzard games and they run fine on either the 2013 13" rMBP base or the 15" rMBP base.

I also have a gaming desktop but to be honest I much prefer Mac over Windows. I do not like using Windows.

You can get an idea where Iris Pro and 750M stands compared to other GPUs from looking at these benchmark results: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

MBP isn't the best choice for gaming since you can buy a Razer Blade with that kinda price and get that 780M. You should still be able to run any game at medium to high setting though, but just look at that benchmark difference between a 750M and 780M.

I, too, am looking to upgrade my laptop/gaming device and it's so difficult having it all. I want OSX for non-gaming activities and Windows for gaming so MBP works for that, but as you see its GPU isn't the best around. Considering portability, I've narrowed my choices to:

1. MBP
2. MBA + Razer Blade
3. MBA + M8 (not a laptop) http://www.asrock.com/microsite/m8

If you do a lot of gaming I'd go with the Razer Blade or a different gaming laptop. I only play WoW and a Macbook does that just fine. If I played more computer games then that I'd definitely look into a Windows machine.

Also, check out the MSI gaming laptops, those are pretty good This particular model has the 870M. This one is a hair under $1800 so it's a little cheaper than the Razer and has some better internals.

Gaming on a 750m is fine, as long as you're not obsessed with the gaming performance. However, a dedicated gaming computer or gaming console will offer better performance.
