Over the past few weeks I have had the Mac Book Pro shut down with the grey curtain rolling down the screen and the message that a reboot is required. This only happens when coming out of sleep if I walk away from the computer, return and move the mouse or hit a key. It doesn't happen every time, and I cannot find a pattern of application or internet connection, etc.
    Tiger 10.4.10, all updates, 2.4ghz, 2gb ram. 17"

Thanks in advance for any help!

The grey curtain is called Kernel Panic
Since it's a brand new SR MBP with all updates I would contact Apple and describe the problem. This should defenetly not happen.

Check the RAM is seated properly. Loose RAM is one of the main culprits of Kernel panics

is there a log file of kernal panics that I could review and perhaps figure out the reason?
