Macbook Pro isn't booting

My macbook gets stuck at the background with grey apple logo.
The 'loading indicator' or whatever you'll call it is also stuck.

What can I do? :S


EDIT: I can't boot windows xp via bootcamp either.
EDIT: It's a late 2008 macbook pro running 10.5.5 leopard

Safe mode doesn't solve the problem 😕

Now, after loading for ages - it finally moved on in safe mode.
What should I do now?
