Hello everybody,

Last night my Google Chrome seemed to crash. After a restart my macbook pro (late 2011) didn't boot all the way up. I get the chime and progress bar, but eventually get a grey screen (of death?). I tried the following:

– Hardware test (command -d)
– Verbose
– Single user-mode
– Safe mode
– Pram reset
– Recovery mode
– Boot manager

Nothing worked except the boot manager holding the option/alt key. Booting the Bootcamp partition did result in a similar (black) screen. The strange thing is that every time I boot my mac partition after trying the bootcamp partition it actually boots up all the way! I'm typing this message from my macbook pro.

Problem is that a restart still result in a grey screen. I suspect a problem with the partitioning or Bootcamp, but can you help me please and give my any advice?!

Thanks in advance!

What size is your screen?
This is important information.

If it's 15" or 17", take it to a brick-n-mortar Apple store right away.
You may be experiencing "RadeonGate".
There is a FREE motherboard replacement program for this.
You MAY qualify for it.

Thanks for the reply! It's a 15" macbook pro and I just got it back from a free motherboard replacement. Already the second replacement, but I'm happy it works again.
