Hi everyone,

my friend had a macbook pro (mid-2012) all sudden it's screen went black, we couldn't make it work. also we tried to connect it to a tv/monitor, all works fine only screen was the problem.

also i had a macbook pro (late-2012) with everything was working. we decided to replace screens to see if his screen broken or logic board. my screen didnt worked on his macbook also his screen didnt worked on mine. then i reassembled my macbook and now my screen on my macbook doesnt work, no apple led no nothing but the system works. when i press power button i am able to see a little response for a second (like a little blink). what could i did wrong? please can someone help me? i also tried to reset CMS etc.

Edit: both macbooks are 13" and non-retina. Also, when i hold a flashlight to the screen somehow it works (i can login and do anything)

I assume both macbooks are 15" retina.

Examine your macbook logic board any signs of blown capacitors, resistors, and fuses.

Does your friend's macbook boot even though the screen doesn't work?

hello, both macbooks are 13" non-retina. i dont think there are any blown capasitors, fuses etc. also i tried to hold a flashlight from the apple logo at the back shell i can see the system is working.

Okay, this makes more sense as apple never had a late 2012 13" macbook pro that was not retina.

Was the battery cable disconnected in both machines when the screens were changed?

Disconnect the battery cable, remove all of the ram from your macbook, connect the battery, and boot the machine. Hopefully, it will beep. if it beeps, power it off, disconnect battery, insert the other stick of ram, connect the battery, and boot the computer.

They are both non retina, i could be wrong about late/mid :)
I am not sure if the battery was plugged or not when screens were changed. I did what you suggested, disconnected battery then removed rams then connected and booted, like you mentioned it beeped. Then powered it off disconnected battery inserted a stick of ram then booted. The result is same, no light up, i can see with flashlight only:(

Does it beep constantly with no ram?

You tried one stick of ram at one time in both slots?

You mean you can see something on the screen if you shine a flashlight on the screen?
