Yeah I think people are only writing in the forums when something is wrong but not when everything is ok. That gives people who haven't received their Macbook a wrong impression.
I also think that it is awesome! Screen, speakers, touchbar and I even pretty much like the new keyboard. However the keyboard is pretty loud when typing on it. That's no problem for me but it could be a problem for others (plane, train,
etc).
the keyboard is kinda loud, yes. not really an issue for me too, but it definitely is way louder than my 2012 retina.
Did you check if SIP is enabled ?
according to "csrutil status" (console command): yes, it is enabled by default. (at least it was for me.) out of the box. thanks for reminding me to take look at this!
a few more impressions:
- palm rejection on the trackpad works fine. the size doesnt bother me but it also isn't really useful so far.
- butterfly keyboard is way better than the old 2012 retina keyboard, give it time folks! (BUT it is loud! very loud!)
- the screen is better but not that ultra wow thingy. a nice upgrade tough.
- i can't say anything for the battery life yet.
- bootcamp impressions: skyrim remaster maxed out (including AA) at 1680x1050 gave me a stable 30 with framelimiter.
- drivers seem to be updated, i didn't blow my speakers, i used the xbox controller via the apple usb c to usb. all fine.
- never had a single flicker or any graphical issues neither while playing nor while fiddling around with osx.
