I brought my MacBook Pro in today for an audio out issue and they decided that the logic board needed to be replaced. My Apple Store didn't have the part on hand so they're ordering it for me. I was quoted a 1-2 day wait on the part and told that if I brought my Mac in in the morning that it would be ready by the evening of the same day.

I also went to 5th ave Apple Store today. My screen would go dimmed when I try to boot from the Install DVD.

The genius tried everything but didn't work. Another genius suggested to reset the SMC and it worked or else he was about to send it in for a logic board repair (told me 7-10 days).

ram should be a while you wait repair the only way it should be 3 days is if they dont have the part.

I'm not really sure that he was positive that that was the issue. He did order ram from his iPod touch, but he said that he still needed to diagnose it. He wasn't exactly the nicest person in the world, so maybe he was having a bad day and wanted to be done with it. Also, if they replace the ram and it doesn't fix the issue, do they give me a new computer or try something else?

No, if RAM doesn't fix the issue, then they will replace what they think is the problem source. The Logic board may be replaced too. Unless its a serious issue, and it occurs to the same part 3+ times, they usually don't give you a new laptop. Why are you so paranoid about all of this?

Everytime i've needed a repair on a pc, iv'e been screwed over. This is my first time having a Mac repaired, so I'm somewhat worried.

Replaced logic board twice. Both times within same day, just make them order the parts first.

Normally, it takes about 5-7 days if the part is in stock. Even less time depending on the store's repair queue
