I couldn't help it. I saw it, I bought. Despite everything that I read with the m5 max on its way I took the plunge. I'm coming from a 5th gen iPad Pro and was starting to see some of its limitations when it came to video editing. Not that I am doing anything professionally but I felt I did need something with more power.

I decided to get the max because I tend to keep my apple products forever. Ok now that is out the way. I'm looking for some opinions on software editing. I find myself doing more YouTube stuff. Is Final Cut Pro the best route to go?

Da Vinci Resolve. It's free (unless you want all the advanced features that 90% of Youtubers wouldn't use anyway), so if you try it out and hate it, at least you haven't invested anything.

Don't worry, if you like it and it does what it needs to do, it was a good decision. It will be a great machine for video editing for years to come. I got the M4 mbp in my signature in December knowing the M5s are around the corner. But I needed a faster machine for my video eding business now for some larger projects my Intel i9 mbp was struggling with.

Another vote for DaVinci Resolve for editing. In my opinion it's way better than Final Cut Pro - I switched more than 10 years ago and never regretted it. And, like ISKOTB wrote, it's free, can't beat that. 🙂
