Macbook Pro mid-2009- El Capitan vs High Sierra?

Have anyone compared El Capitan vs High Sierra on their mid-2009 Macbook Pro? In general High Sierra works fine but sometimes when browsing websites it sluggish. My Macbook pro specs 2.53GHz and 6GB ram.

I used DosDude1’s Sierra Patch and it worked fine for me, following the instructions. High Sierra was a little bit slower and I couldn’t use my ExpressCard slot anymore.
