    Hi,
I read many forums about 4K screens with macbook so I decided to give it a go. I am using minidisplay port to display port adapter but I couldn't set resolution more than 1440p. I am using switchresx and created custom resolution but when i apply it nothing happens. Did anyone try this? What can be the problem? Thanks.

You need Late 2013 or newer to use 4K monitors.

You need a late-2013 or later Mac to do so. And if you want to output at 4K@60Hz, you cannot be on a Haswell 13" rMBP.

I heard people pushing @30hz and less than with non retina macbook but reports are in mavericks so they say apple broke something on yosemite.
