MacBook Pro mid 2012 9,2 - firmware downgrade

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware that was installed while upgrading from Catalina 10.15.6 to 10.15.7?

The firmware is causing issues with accessing the disk (disk utility takes lot of time and macos installation fails in the final stages).

Only if you have a T2 security chip based Intel Mac and Apple is still signing the firmware software install, otherwise, no.
