"he pricing gap between the 14 and 16-inch options will be "much more narrow" than the current 13 and 16-inch high-end MacBook Pro options."

Translation the MacBook Pro 14 is going to be priced much higher. These might be the true pro machines with the colorful MacBook Air replacements being consumer machines.

How about the Mac Mini and standalone display? Can we get those too, please?
that would be nice, and when/if that happens (the monitor), I will seriously consider that for replacing my iMac ... I have time though ...

No thank you ... keep those in the museum
HDMI and SD cards are not in the museum, they have evolved dramatically in the years they've been on the market. HDMI bandwidth is humongous in the current specs, and SD cards are way faster and significantly larger. Both are absolutely standards when it comes to video and removable storage. I really hope to have those back.

The good ol Apple tax. That is why they make Mac’s not user replaceable anymore.

I remember those days were I bought the base 15” 2010 and fully maxed it out with 3rd party components for around $2000, while Apple was charging over $3000+ for the same specs.
And yet, people praise Apple.

Why?

Waiting with horror to see how much it will cost to upgrade to 32gb and 1TB/2TB SSD!

As others have noted, I expect BTO upgrade pricing to match the current Intel-equipped models.

Why 16 GB RAM? Macrumors says 8GB of RAM is all you need.

The Intel-equipped models have 16GB and 512GB so they will want to keep the same for Apple Silicon.

they will both come with 16GB standard? I will believe it when I see it.

You'll see it, so believe it. :)

I expect the 14" to be either $1899 or $1999. Considering the Intel 13.3" 4-port is $1999 with the i7 BTO upgrade and "M1X" is going to out-gun the i7 in CPU and destroy it in GPU, I am okay with paying $1999 for Apple Silicon.

SD is being replaced by CFExpress, most new cameras feature that, provides the bandwidth needed for high fps ...
We will find out Monday ;)
