For someone who is looking to buy the non touch bar MBP, when do you guys think we will see update to this model?

I think Apple needs to continue selling it so consumers can't make the argument that "Apple stopped making the 2016/2017 keyboard because its defective".

I hate to say it, but I don't think we will see any future updates to that version of the MBP. They have already canceled the 15" non-touchbar, it's just a matter of time now before they cancel the 13" version of it as well.

Nobody know whether the non-TB model will be discontinued in a few months when a 13" Macbook is released, or will remain on sale as is (2017 hardware with no price reduction) for the next 12 months, or even linger longer as the MBA has been doing for years, or the last 13" non-retina hung around for 2 years without updates.

But I think the chance of it getting an update at all, never mind in the next few months, is slim.

I was really hoping to buy the non-touch after 15-inch. I think it’s here to stay to “distinguish” the pro from the non-pro models. Sad, how Apple forces unwanted features on costumers.

Once Intel released more up-to-date dual core CPUs I guess. Right now those models are still the fastest dual-core CPUs available... It was supposed to be Cannon Lake, but we all know how that ended up...

I think this model and the 12” MacBook might be looking at updated later this year. As the nTB is the Air replacement, I don’t think they will discontinue it.

Given how long it has taken to update the Mac mini, who knows?

Track record shows that it will probably hang around for a couple of iterations then get retired. Like the white MacBook's when the Silver ones came out and the fat Pro's when the thin ones came out, etc.

With the single fan design of the current nTB models perhaps the 8th gen intel processors may not be a good match. There seem to be severe thermal throttling issues with even the TB models that sport dual fans so its something to be considered...
