Hi, new here so I'm sorry if I'm repeating a thread.

I installed an update today on my Macbook Pro (Fall 2009) and when the computer restarted, it flashed the grey start up screen for a second and then the display went black. The computer is on and running perfectly fine however the display is completely black and not responding to the function keys. I know its on and running because we are able to turn on voice over and run it like normal (my husband is blind)...

Anyway, when I look at the app store, the update was never installed - might have been because I restarted before it was done. (I thought the computer just wasn't on at first.)

We have tried resetting the PRAM and SMC and that didn't do anything.

Also, when connecting to my ipad to my computer to see if that shows a display, it does. When I go to "about this mac" it is telling me that there are no displays detected.

Whatever help would be super helpful! Thank you.

Natalie

Well can you try going into recovery mode? If the display does not function out there as well then its a hardware issue.Either the display or logic board will need to be replaced. However was this update just a software or a firmware update? But before we conclude its hardware Try reinstalling the os just to rule out software
