Macbook pro not reading my HDDs

I need help. I just replaced the original hard drive and inserted a SSD via Optibay on my new 15" MBP. When I try to install OS X, the system doesn't detect any harddrive at all? I check all the sata plugs and they look firmly attached. Am I missing something? 🙁

Have you formatted the new SSD via Disk Utility run from the install/restore DVD?

Thanks! This is my first time messing with a Mac I thought I broke it for a second 😛. I was expecting it to at least list the unformatted drives instead of hiding them.
