MacBook Pro number keys producing odd characters?

Hi everybody, hope someone might be able to help.

My MacBook Pro (running Lion) is producing odd characters when I use the number keys. They almost look like shortcuts as the option character appears and also when I hit some of the keys, the MacBook behaves as if I'm using one of the Function keys..

I've clicked on keyboard settings and 'reset to default' but the issue remains.

Have you tried hitting the option or fn key a couple times? I've noticed that occasionally these get "stuck" and tapping them a few times frees them up.

Show the Keyboard Viewer. Then tell us if you see any modifier keys or other keys pressed.

Hi!

I had this problem & it drove me mad!! I finally figured out what it was - go to:

Preferences > Universal Access & turn "Sticky Keys" to Off!
