Hey all,

So I am trying to decide on this. I only have my iPhone 16 pro as my main device for media consumption emails and everything. I have a laptop but it’s work laptop only.

I have not had a Mac in a long time and at the moment I have on order the base mba. However I then started to read some people get headaches eye strain on the mba which I thought was only OLED iPhones but then I don’t know what’s going on. Anyways it’s making me think of getting the base MacBook Pro 14 inch.

I mean I guess with the headaches and eye strain it’s a matter of trying it out and see. But then thinking getting the base MacBook Pro 14 inch as that has m4 in it and even though at the moment I am thinking I can be okay with an m3 but knowing that next year a m4 mba will be introduced then I am thinking of just getting the MacBook Pro m4 version instead.

I mean yes it’s more expensive but I can cover the cost for it. I am just thinking if I am going to get a new Mac then I want it to last as long as I can. Those who have the MacBook Pro 14 inch and carry it along in a a laptop bag etc how you feel you get on with the weight. I mean yes it’s a bit heavier than the mba 13 inch I was looking at getting or that’s on its way but just want some thoughts on this. Sorry this post is all over the place but yeah be interested to hear on views etc.

As someone who is affected by PWM, the MBA is flicker/PWM free so you shouldn’t have problems with it and mine has given me no issues. I have a new MBP 14” and it causes me to have less severe symptoms than an OLED but still does even though the PWM is very high.
