Macbook Pro Power off at 63%

I have 17" C2D Macbook Pro 2.33ghz with 667mhz bus. Yesterday it started powering off with now warnings at 63% battery life yet. Is it time for a new battery (it's LED indicator say is over 50% charged) as well the OS. Or is there more of a fundamental problem? My previous Mac was a Powerbook and its battary would just drop down to 0% real fast when the battery was at End of Life.

My MBP battery did the same thing when it hit 30%. The only solution was replacement.

Mine did the same thing, at around the same percentage too. Take it to an apple store, they should replace it for free if its been less than a year.
