Anyone think there's any chance the new MBP might have a quad core processor?

Heat is basically the biggest issue, especially if there is a case redesign for the MBP

every single time i hear quad in this forum reminds me of ATVs, lol.

How Many Watts is Least Powerful Quad Core Chip?

I understand that the latest MacBook Pros have chips going up to power consumptions levels of 35 watts. How much power does the least-power quad core chips consume?

Two duo cores?

How about having two duo cores in a mbp?

Maybe in the 17inch...even if it drains the battery power to 3:50hours i would still invest in one. And with heat issues....they can damn put the 15" speakers on a macbook and split the two cpus across the pc?

maybe hey? or am i going on about crap....

I don't think that most people would prefer something with less battery life and more heat. there are in fact some people who use these things on their laps (ouch!)

Can't apple do what Pc manufacturers can

I sometimes get the distinct feeling that some of you only ever look at Macs. When folks are saying that the quad core processors run too hot for a laptop I just don't get it. There are quad core processor notebooks out there NOW. Is Apple not capable of doing what the others have? I think Apple needs to step up or PC users just aren't going to bite. I have been waiting for a great Macbook Pro so I can switch to Mac but how do I justify it if there are faster PC's out there with more to offer for a better price? I want a MAC! I am still waiting and watching.

Thought those processors arent out till mid-end 08. Do you have a link to these laptops?

how you decide the value is up to you. Some people will justify their claims of spending more on a Mac because they feel that OSX is a superior operating system, and therefore means that they should spend more money on it. some people would justify the value by saying that the apple products look nicer, and are designed better than some of the pc manufactures.

The truth is yes, that there are cheaper PC products out there with better specifications that would do any of you just fine. However, its up to to you to decide whether or not the difference is worth purchasing an apple product.

That's just a desktop processor. I have that very CPU in my current desktop machine.

Put that in a laptop and you get..

1) DREADFULL battery life
2) CHRONIC heat issues
3) VERY loud fans
4) Kick ass performance

Lol, that Laptop with the Quad-Core processor sucks. Yeah, woohoo, you get quad-core power, then what? 512 MBs of RAM, and an 80 GB 5400 RPM HD, not to mention that almost no software takes advantage of 2 core processing, much less 4 cores.
