    Hello,
I have a late 2011 13" MacBook Pro with 4GB of stock ram and i just upgraded to 8GB I was wondering if I can put the 4GB of stock ram into my 2010 iMac?

    Thanks!

Yes, as both use 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM modules.

I thought notebook ram != desktop ram.

Does the iMac use smaller chips?

All Intel iMacs use SO-DIMM notebook RAM modules, be it 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM or 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM modules.
