I have been having the same issue with my MBP waking up and the computer has rebooted.

However, after reading through this thread and doing some research I believe my issue wasn't that it was rebooting but it was logging me out. Sure enough, looking through my Security & Privacy settings (under Advanced), it was set to Log out after 60 minutes of inactivity. A log out will close all applications and when you wake it up, present you with the login, which could seem like a reboot.

I'm going to test this tonight but I'm pretty sure this is what I was experiencing. YMMV

Just reporting back that I've had this setting off since I posted this and haven't had any reboots while asleep.

My MacBook Pro (2017) has the same problem - never had this issue with the previous 2015 MBP - the new MBP is from my new employer, which has multiple apps running (VMWare Agent, Umbrella Roaming client).

- Close the lid at night (around 10 PM)
- Around 9 AM, open lid
- Instead of unlocking via Apple Watch or TouchID, I get a message that "requires password after MacBook restart"
- Apps are re-loaded. Chrome states "Chrome shutdown unexpectedly, Restore tabs?" <-- makes me believe MacBook crashed.

I checked the Console logs (Mac Analytics reports) and I noticed this..

I could post the entire log after monitoring it tonight - any thoughts?
[doublepost=1522937101][/doublepost]Actually, I just saw this:

https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/311072/macos-high-sierra-restarting-by-itself-during-sleep

seems like there is a autopoweroffdelay setting (in seconds, 28800 seconds, 6 hours).. I'll research this, update value, and post back.

Check if your security settings has you Logging off after x minutes of inactivity. Go to Settings - Security & Privacy (Advanced). I had the same issue until I turned that off.

Yeah, I don't have that on. (Saw your note on it and tried it).

My 13" 2016 with Touch Bar will pretty reliably crash during overnight sleep and give me the "Your computer was restarted due to a problem" popup if I have it connected to an external monitor. It has done that across every macOS Sierra and High Sierra point update it's run so far (I haven't had it docked much in the few days since 10.13.4, so not sure about it yet, but I'm not hopeful).

It has also, far more rarely, crashed during overnight sleeps when not docked. But if it's plugged into a monitor it's gonna crash (or have already crashed at some point) somewhere around 1/4 to 1/2 the time when I wake it up. And then there are the times when it wakes but won't bring up the screens properly. Sometimes I can unplug and replug the external monitor and that'll fix it, sometimes unplugging the external monitor and putting it back to sleep and then waking it up again and plugging the monitor back in will fix it, and sometimes there's nothing for it but a reboot.

Over the last few months I've tried pretty much every settings tweak I've been able to find here and elsewhere that might fix it, but so far nothing works. It's only a minor annoyance, I suppose, given how fast the machines boot and that all my work will be saved and my apps will be reopened when I log back in, but still, it's pretty annoying paying this much money for something that refuses to work reliably.

I suppose it must not bother me that much or I'd take it in and have Apple check it out.

I doubt they'd be very helpful. What you described is something that I've been dealing with on and off to various degrees for over 10 years. Mac laptops really seem to have some difficulties when they're docked and undocked regularly. Almost all of my kernel panics and crashes happen right after I dock or right after I undock.

I turned off Wake for WiFi Access as well as Power Nap. That seems to have improved my random waking issue mostly. It still happens, but not all the time now.

I don't have any problems when I use my MBP exclusively as a laptop and don't plug it in to an external monitor.

I've the same problem with the same sender machUUID

com.apple.message.domain: com.apple.sleepwake.failure
com.apple.message.signature3: Sleep
com.apple.message.signature: Drivers Failure
com.apple.message.signature2: P0P2()
com.apple.message.value: 9
com.apple.message.summarize: NO

Did you find a solution?

I've been having the same problems that it seems to crash after a longer sleep, virtually tried everything without success. Just found the com.apple.sleepwake.failure stuff in the logs and found this thread, anyone has any luck solving this yet?

My issues just stopped at one point, not sure which version of macOS it was, so sadly, can’t help
