MacBook Pro restore DVD on Macbook?

    My brother has my old Macbook he lost my copy of snow leopard and I need to restore it for him I couldn't use my MacBook Pro restore dvd to install on his MacBook could I?

    The grey install discs that come with Macs are model-specific and will not work on other models. You can call Apple for replacement install discs, or use a retail Snow Leopard disc.

    Im about to install a new HDD into my MBP, will i be able to use these discs? Also will this HDD work if i were to put it into a different MBP if it does?

    As long as the grey discs are for the same model of machine, it won't care about the HDD being different.

    As to whether you can pull that drive and install it into a different machine I'll let someone else answer definitively. I bought a 15" Late 2011 to replace a 13" Early 2011 yesterday and was able to pull my SSD out of the 13" and put it in the 15" and it just took off and ran. Obviously, back up everything first.
