I've recently noticed that the MagSafe 2 connector to the power adapter of my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) gets hot to the touch and only after charging for 20 minutes. It stays hot until I unplug it and it is no longer charging that computer. The rest of the power cable is at a normal room temperature. This MagSafe adapter is about 25% as old as said MacBook Pro and I've never noticed this with any of my other MagSafe 2 Macs or other MagSafe 2 Adapters (let alone any MagSafe 1 Adapter).

Is this normal? Is the MagSafe connector having issues?

Should I be concerned that it could cause a safety hazard?

This Mac is damn near being obsolete by Apple and it was very close to living out the rest of its life as a Windows 10 machine (given that it's not Big Sur-able). But if it's a potential hazard, then I'm not messing with it anymore!
