Hi there community. My Retina MBP makes a slight "hiss" noise whenever I turn the machine on or I resume it from sleep. In a quiet environment it is noticable, and I know it comes from the fan starting up. When the machine is up and running though, the only noise I hear from the fan is a regular low-profile noise (about 1000rpm), which is completly normal. Any answers?

we can not say if it is normal or not. Do try putting up a video so we can tell you. However if you do have any doubts take it into the genius bar or aasp and have them check the cooling system, if any fualts are found they will replace it.

LOL. I just returned from Genius Bar:D They replaced the SSD and now the AHT don't shows any errors anymore.
If you're in a quiet room, try to boot it up and listen carefully after you hit the start button. Then there is a slight "hiss"

EDIT: Unfortunately they replaced the SSD with another SanDisk SSD:(

Yeah, I've heard that. Sounds like the fans spinning up to max very briefly, then going back to normal speed.

I always assumed this was a normal part of the boot procedure. Kind of like the Mac taking a mad huff before getting back to work.

i have the same error on mine :( i took it in the 14 day period they said its normal so cannot exchange. Out here they will only replace if you have a hardware fault not otherwise.

They've said exactly the same to me!!! They said it were normal and it's software related. But I said they should look it up and then they exchanged my SSD. According to the AHT the error is gone. But I still have this strange fan issue. Maybe it's at some SanDisk SSD's ?
