Is this happening to peoples Macbook Pro?

Around the MagSafe 2 pluge there are these silver stains or marks causes by the new MagSafe pluge.

Happen on all my friends laptop that is using new MagSaf 2.

I haven't looked inside my ports to see if there's discoloration.

I'd assume its just marks coming from the power plug rubbing inside the port and not worry about it

Hi,

I tried to clean it off with a cloth (one that come with ur mac's) and it didn't work.

I know its not a big deal, but just a little paranoid about it.

This is normal. All my Mac's are like that (both MagSafe and MagSafe 2). The magnet "snaps" into place causing the marks, but it doesn't affect charging so it's okay. 😉

See inside the port around the actual 5 pins of the connections, there are marks / or stains around the edge. Like if the actual magsafe connector have been grinding on the aluminium surface.

This happens pretty much straight away and can't easily be avoided, especially with the more powerful MagSafe 2 connector. It only gets worse, so just forget about it 🙂

Using a pre-moistened alchohol wipe will remove the stains - it's worked on all the MACs I've fixed or cleaned.

These are not stains, these are scratches.
