Hi everyone,

My macbook pro started to run very very slowly especially when I play videos. The fan races and it is very loud as well. It's not hot at all since the fans are running like there's no tomorrow. The screen blacks out regularly for a second, and comes back again. What could be the solution for this? Thanks for your help!

I'll attach the screenshot of my activity monitor

ps: The system is OS X 10.9

Well its the kernel task that is doing the work but you have a couple of red flags IMHO:

CleanMyMac (who knows what that has done)
Chrome (known resource hog)
5x (!) Chrome helper tasks...

Restart, stop CleanMyMac, restart again then try the video played through another browser...see if the behaviour is different.

I agree with the prior posted - reboot, don't run chrome - its a hog and clean my mac is more trouble then its worth. I also see MS Word in memory in your screen shot and it has consumed a lot of cpu time. The reboot will clean that up, but trying watching videos w/o starting word up to see if that helps as well.
