I feel the urge to switch because I feel like the new iPhones are having some ridiculous prices and I'd love to have an OLED display

The Samsung AMOLED screens are nice but the iPhone screens are no slouch.

I used to have an Android phone and got switched to a second-hand iPhone 6s. I didn't realize how much I love the Apple ecosystem (keychain, iTunes, sync funtions, etc.) for my phone, Air, MBP, iPad Air 2, and Apple TV 4k.

I could certainly go back to an Android phone but I'm in no hurry as there are no compelling reasons for me at the moment.

Yes, to sum it up you’ll be missing out on a huge part of the ecosystem. I had a Samsung Note 3 back in the day, and after I switched to an iPhone 6, I’ve never turned back.

I can also tell you that all of the newer iPhones have some of the best screens (and keep in mind the iPhone X OLED is actually made by Samsung themselves), and technically they don’t cost that much more than a Samsung.

Depends on how you are in the ecosystem, personally I do not use itune music and not much use for iphotos, have Macbook pro and samsung phone, still surviving. Used to own iphones has been using Samsung phone for a year, found Samsung phone has been easier to use. Just my 2 cents.

Meh LCD screens. The reason why I got a Note 8 and now the iPhone X. The ecosystem is nice but not a must have

Eh idc what display mates says and tbh I prefer the saturation of the Note 8 screen over the iPhone X screen if I have to choose . That being said I love the iPhone X screen

That is true, Samsung and other manufacturers tend to have a higher saturation of colors, whereas the Apple tends to try to focus on more accurate saturations. It really is a matter of preference, me personally I love my iPhone X.

I think one other point of why I don't move to Android is that you don't get more than two years of software updates on most models, where Apple is still releasing updates for people with phones 4-5 years old. The only thing that I miss from Androids is the ability to customize your app organization better, and add widget on your app pages. Otherwise I don't miss Android at all.

Ive never had a phone longer then the 24month contract with my provider. Android all the way baby!!

With the way phones are marketed, you’re right, most people don’t keep phones for more than two years (I think the average on some report was like 16 months). But I have kept phones for more than two years at a time, and I don’t want to have a monthly payment on a phone for two years. IMO phones now are basically computers and should upgraded once every 4-5 years, but that’s just my penny-pinching philosophy.

I mean when you look at it, new phones these days basically cost the same price as a decent laptop, so it better last as long as a laptop.

I think that with the number of Apple devices you already own you will probably be dissatisfied with an Android phone.

I’m offering an opinion and making generalizations here. So take it for what it is worth. But Android isn’t any better or any worse than iOS. It’s just different. But most people who ask if they should move from iOS aren’t looking for something different. They are looking for something better than iOS and in the end they are disappointed because Android isn’t better. It’s just different.

Instead of getting a Galaxy S9 now, you could get the battery in your iPhone 6+ replaced now and then wait to see what Apple releases in the fall.

"Ecosystem" is an overused excuse for sticking to either Android or Apple. Who knows whether it even has a practical meaning any longer. In the real world you can mix and match with no issues.

iMessage: Pretty much all my friends communicate through either Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger, so iMessage is no bother.

Apple Photo: I prefer Google photos as I can sign into my Gmail account and not just view but search photos taken using my phone on any computer. Secondly I can share links to photos or albums with anyone in a second. I also have the Google Photo App on my iPad.

Web Browsing: I used Safari on my Mac/iPad and Chrome on my iPhone. I visit the same sites on both devices so syncing every URL visited isn't necessary.

I have several Apple device and my so called "eco system" doesn't feel incomplete without an iPhone. FYI I had an 5S a few years ago.

As the previous poster mentioned, neither iOS or Android is leaps better than the other but each have small quirks and nice-to-haves. The benefit with Android off course is the greater choice of competing phones. The iPhone X is nice but for the same money you can buy an OLED S8 or Pixel 2 + iPAD/PS4PRO/Wireless Headphones.

Did you say iTunes as a positive.. ? Where's that p#ssing myself emoji when you need one...

I prefer both Samsung phones and iPhones. I have three lines on T-Mobile so I have two of my sims in a 7+ and an 8+ and the third in a Note 8.

I've been using both Samsung and iPhones since 2013 since the Note Edge/Note 4.

On iPhone, I prefer the way everything works and sync and backup my phones using iTunes and everything just works together such as my AirPods, and being able to take a call on either phone no matter which phone is ringing. I've even replied to texts on my MBP.

On the Android phones, I love the ability to side load apps, backup using Smart Switch on my Mac and many of the apps that I use actually have slightly more functionality because there are no Apple restrictions.

I also have a Windows computer that makes copying things back and forth to the Samsung phone as easy as using Explorer since it shows up in the sidebar and I can even drag and drop right to the SD card.

I'm also thinking of buying an S9+ soon but I may just wait to hear about the Note 9 in a month instead.

There are pluses and minuses and both iPhones and Androids but I really enjoy both.

I apologize for the thread drift, but what do you recommend as being better than iTunes for purchasing and managing music across multiple devices?

I’m generally curious because with all of its faults, I’ve yet to find anything better for managing music across by iOS and MS Windows devices. But I would really like to find something that would work across iOS, Windows, Android AND let me purchase my music from multiple sources.

ITunes is what's called a necessary evil.. only use it if u absolutely must.. if not, Google music should work fine...
