Not blaming you, just the guy who revived it.

In the end I wonder how it ended, he probably had to pay to have it fixed oe maybe got lucky, who knows! :)

Hi,

I purchased a Macbook Pro 3 weeks ago. After travelling home from work, the screen had cracked. I have no idea how it happened as I've travelled with it before fine, but it was cracked. The screen is still usable and there are no pixels distorted or anything like that so it might just be the casing that's gone? I'm not so sure. There is a split next to the webcam at the top and it has splintered down.

First question, would this be covered by the warranty? I mean technically it's accidental damage but if you can't transport a portable computer, surely it's not fit for purpose?

Secondly, is there something in front of the screen that could have cracked and not the actual screen itself? If so would Apple repair this?

I am very disappointed as this is my first Apple product and was always impressed by the hardware of these machines. I've had old laptops which have been through **** and been fine where as I have been so careful with this (due to the price of it) and yet it just breaks over nothing.

Any help at all would be appreciated

Thanks.

If you're handy you can buy a piece of glass on ebay for like 30-60 dollars or something. There are enough tutorials on youtube demoing how to assemble it.

You should had gone to the Genius Bar first, I got my MBP's panel replaced by Apple for free after me accidentally broke it.

Help with cracked screen

I've seen a number of "cracked screen" posts and replies but none that attempt to address a problem like mine.
It is cracked and showing lines/colors on the left and at the bottom. Cost to repair is way too high. I have a 15" screen on a MacBook Pro that is only 1 year old. Nice machine.
Is there absolutely no way to change the settings so I can reduce the display down to fit inside the lines? Obviously resolution changes don't solve the problem. I used to be able to do this on my old Dell/Windows PC. New to the mac world.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
