My Macbook Pro screen has recently gone dark, with light vertical lines appearing intermittently.

Weird thing is, when I restarted, the log in screen appears (with flickering horizontal lines), and when I log on, that's when it goes dark.

Anyone experience this and know what to do? I don't want to go to the Apple store and be ripped off, if there's really a simple solution to this.

You did not mention what year that MBP is. But wild guess, GPU issues, failed or failing, particularly if an older model.

See if you can do a hardware test. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257

It's a Macbook Pro 13 inch, 2017.

I doubt it's a GPU issue. Since the issue seems to have resolved itself (I just opened it again, and the screen is normal). Plus... this is new, I bought it November of 2018.
