MacBook Pro screen response time

That video was posted by Andrei, from Anandtech - who have a reputation for their very thorough and in-depth reviews.

In fairness their review posted earlier today doesn’t discuss this either…

Refresh rate might not fix this. Image retention is more about the panels ability to switch from dark to light and back again quickly per pixel. That is separate from being able to process and display at 120Hz. having said that I had a 16", thought it was a little blurry when dragging white text about on a black background but soon got used to it.

Nah, no way that’s an LED issue. If that were the fastest the panel could change brightness, movies would be unwatchable.

Definitely looks like refresh-rate to me. I don’t know how macOS determines what refresh rate to use given that ProMotion is variable up to 120Hz but I wouldn’t be shocked if the Terminal app ordinarily uses a low refresh rate.

Edit: I just read in the comments that this footage is slowed down. As such I withdraw my above comments. More data is needed.

Could you have provided a worse video of this supposed find? It's like UFO footage...always the grainiest, moving shot using the worst camera.

It was the only video I could find.

It's not evidence. I haven't claimed that it does have horrible response time.

Just interested to see if others notice more lag compared to the previous one. Orders have started arriving today / tomorrow.

I don’t mean you, I mean whoever is making the claim. That video is obviously so poor it’s just ludicrous to take anything from it. And even if it were happening, it would obviously be faulty. Seriously, don’t give that video any credence.

FWIW, just tested this out. Its fine. It is blurry, but not really something that will impact my ability to use dark screens with white text at all. Its on the ok side of acceptable.

The clip is legit but captured via slow mo. It's a little blurry on my 16" unit as well but it's acceptable.

Yeah my past Macs did. Was hoping for improvement. Tested out a Legion 7 Pro with 165 Hz screen. Not mini-LED but damn that panel was fast & buttery smooth.
