Hi guys,

A couple of months ago I bought myself the new 15" MacbookPro, and just noticed now that that are several scratches on the screen, they're not deep, but I was wondering whether fingernails could scratch the screen? A girl was showing me something on my laptop and she kept on tapping a spot. Do you think that could have caused the scratch?

I know that the touchscreen phones I had would get nail scratches when I played, for example, fruit ninja.

Can macbook screen get scratched with fingernails? Is there any way to remove small scratches from SCREEN?

Thanks guys :apple:

First of all, do not use screen cleaners, especially if the screen is retina display. Even if a specific screen cleaner is available from Apple store. Also try to avoid water (even though Apple themselves suggest to damp the microfibre cloth in water.) There are reports from MacBooks with Retina Display users, that the AR (Anti-reflective) layer / coat is coming off.

You can clean the screen (if there is no dust on it), with the microfibre cloth which came with it. Gently, move the microfibre cloth in circular movements (I prefer anti-clockwise circles) with no extra pressure. This way, the screen is cleaned from fingerprints (if any), but cannot guarantee that the scratches would be removed.

And yes they can get scratched with fingernails like any other screen.
