Is this permanent damage? It was exposed to swimming pool water for a few minutes and at first I thought only the exterior was exposed, but then I noticed the screen was acting a bit funky. Everything else is fine, except for the part on video.

Thanks.

Swimming pool water contains chemicals (chlorine and others) which can cause damage to electronic components and the screen. Everything may be fine for now but that type of water damage will likely cause future problems. Right now you need a new display. Hopefully you have some type of insurance that can pay for the repairs. Water damage is not covered by Apple Care.

That type of water damage won’t dry out. The entire left edge is affected. It’s a permanent condition and you’re lucky if it doesn’t spread beyond the current area.

So when you say exposed, are you saying just a splash of water on only the screen, or did the whole laptop get doused? If it’s the latter (the whole thing got wet) I think more than just the screen will need replacement unfortunately.

In any case, that screen will need replacement, pool water is very, very bad for electronics because of the chemicals in it, not to mention, it’s well, water... sorry for the bad news there

Exposed or wet. I'm not sure about the verbiage you're using. I think as others stated pool water is probably one of the worst things, i.e., chlorine, and other chemicals will play havoc on the internals. If the laptop is not functioning as it used too prior to getting wet, then yeah, the water did some damage.

The video is not really helpful, I think its too dark to see anything
