when I put the specs in mac2sell it says $600!!!!

omg

mac2sell is notoriously low in value. Read their fine print - the price does not include things like power adapters, nor do they consider condition. Your better gauge is to look at eBay, where you can judge things like condition and "includeds" when comparing prices. That way, you can be sure that the data is actually real and not mac2sell undervaluing things so they can buy them from individuals for a lower-than-market-value price (think used car dealer tactics).

oh . i didn't know this... thanks

If it meets your needs, don't let Leopard stop you

Hi there, I'd say that's a pretty good deal, keeping a few things in mind. If the computer meets your needs, I wouldn't worry too much about the absence of Snow Leopard. Look specifically at the processor speed, memory space and RAM, and if you think the machine is capable enough for your application (it's no screaming new powermac, obviously, but isn't a weakling either) then I would say take advantage. It's an intel machine which is of course a positive. I would make sure to examine the machine closely to make sure it is in good physical shape, and if you do end up getting it test the battery life immediately to make sure it's up to your expectations. As far as OS, I have both an iMac running Leopard and a new MBP running Snow Leopard...to be honest, you will likely be perfectly happy running Leopard as it is an excellent OS and the improvements in SL are generally small, streamlining features. That said, if you really want the latest and greatest, I would upgrade right away before you make too many changes and installs since some cleanup will be required before upgrading if you do. Upgrading is only $29 (hopefully having a refurb won't change, that but it may-someone else may know more about that than I), and if you decide to do it I would follow this guide http://lifehacker.com/5348150/how-to-upgrade-from-leopard-to-snow-leopard or one like it. One more thing to keep in mind is the warranty that the refurb shop offers-make sure they offer at least some coverage in case you uncover a hitch in their work (very unlikely, but still a good idea to have some reassurance). Also, try to haggle a bit ($725, $750?) you never know, and it can't hurt to try. Best of luck!

Rather than start a new thread with every Mac you consider buying, why not put them all in one thread?

I simply offered a suggestion. If you don't like it, DO NOT REPLY TO IT! With your attitude, you're not going very far in this forum.

A good point...

And yes, techound is right, check for similar macbooks on various sites, and make sure to check accessories as they WILL vary. I would place about 0 faith in Mac2Sell. It may seem cold not to include an adapter but people definitely do it. Shop around to be sure, and be scrutinous in details.

how far am I supposed to get on a message board :confused:

I have multiple threads with multiple replies.

AND I have gathered great advice from people that do not take life to serious. I see that you are not one of those people.

However, I bid you a great day if you have nothing further to add.

:D

I've got an answer or response...quit cluttering up the forum.

bunch of control freaks on this message board

And yes, that is kind of a lowball.

thanks for your response... I wasn't sure and didn't want to offend the seller.

This is the 13in Aluminum Late 2008 model.

I like that model too.

lol. some people are too serious in life. :D

back2topic. yeah it is a low offer considering it's a mbp and comes w/ a 6 month applecare lol. if you offer a little more...thats as good as getting a new mb. but it doesnt hurt to see how low he'll go...assuming he's keepin up with the new releases of mbp.

I appreciate your feedback...

i found a great place called micro center. they have great prices.

also $800

for what it's worth, microcenter sells the new macbook white $999 model with a $200 visa gift card, so i don't know how much better a deal this refurbished one is...

I am the proud new owner

of a brand spanking new

13in macbook pro

now my daughter can have her blackbook back...lmao

I ended up getting a VERY GOOD price for it because they marked it with the wrong price- and they had to honor what was shown

yay for me

Awesome. They marked it as a MacBook I guess.

I got mine for a total of $1049 (Amazon doesn't charge sales tax) from Amazon.

It feels great to get a deal!:D

$999?!

Surely you can't be serious! They must have felt that empty ache inside when they had to let it go for that price, they lost loads for that.

It's that feeling like when the policia walks into your pawn shop and takes your latest deal as evidence >< I could just cry.

At any rate, welcome to the family. I'm loving my MacBook Pro 13". I make videos and just recently delved into making music! All of this I would NEVER do before having my Mac, it's changed my life to say the least.

I did a review of it even! Check out my channel on Youtube if you don't mind, SenorChito. As you can see my first video was a review of my first mac...yeah THAT'S how quickly things changed for me XD

But you're already a Mac user, in other words, you get "it". ;)

OH! this one guy tried to scare me by saying that apple will NOT honor the warranty if the price is less than 10% of the original!! WTF! I knew he was trying to scare me---I told him Apple honors the computer- not the price.

Oh man, he sounded desperate. When you won that argument I could just see the tears well up over losing $200 or whatever. As an ex-merchant...there's no worse pain :'( at least emotionally*

Lucky lucky dog.
